"One Belt and One Road" China – Malaysia Business Dialogue held in Beijing

On July 15th, "One Belt and One Road" China – Malaysia Business Dialogue was held in Beijing. It is co-hosted by China economic cooperation center (CECC) and Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA) with the support of China Railway Construction Corporation, Expo Bureau of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, Taicang Municipal Government of Jiangsu Province. Vice Minister Zhou Li of the International Department of CPC Central Committee, and Datuk Seri Liow Tiong, MCA president and Malaysian Transport Minister, attended and addressed the opening ceremony. Over 300 delegates from the governments, business sectors, think tanks and media of China and Malaysia joined the dialogue.



Vice Minister Zhou Li said in his speech, the "One belt and One Road" major cooperation initiative will bring about unprecedented opportunities in the new era of China- Malaysian cooperation. This dialogue, leveraging the party to party exchange channels between CPC and the MCA, proved to be a useful attempt to enhance pragmatic cooperation under the “One Belt and One Road” framework. Mr. Zhou hoped participants from different sectors of the two countries exchange views freely and offer advice and suggestions to further promote the comprehensive development of bilateral relations between China and Malaysia.
Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai noted that Malaysia is ready to positively respond to the “One belt and One road" initiative and to play the role of a bridgehead. He expressed the hope that Malaysia and China should strengthen cooperation in the fields of transportation, infrastructure, “Internet+”, halal industry so that the two sides can complement each other’s advantages, pool together resources and make win-win progress. 
ACFIC vice chairman He Junming said, “One belt and One road” initiative provides multiple opportunities for Chinese enterprises to "go global". He hoped that Chinese entrepreneurs could well seize the opportunities and deepen cooperation with Malaysian companies.



Malaysian ambassador Mr.Yahya said Malaysia and China are the most valuable partners and friends in their pursuit of peaceful development and national prosperity. Malaysia and China will further strengthen economic, trade and investment cooperation, and jointly uphold regional peace, stability and development.
Wang Heshan, Vice Chairman of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, pointed out, Ningxia is willing to actively work with relevant parties for the implementation of major national programs, encourage local companies to seize business opportunities brought by "One belt and One Road", fully tap the huge potential of complementarities in trade and investment between China and ASEAN countries and further open Ningxia up to the outside world.



Hu Yanxin said that CECC is willing to leverage inter-party channels, work together with all parties to build a platform to promote business between the two countries and continue to expand areas of cooperation and enhance the level of cooperation of mutual benefit.
In addition, Feng Meng, chairman of China Railway Construction Corporation Limited, and Ou Xiaoli, inspector of Western development department of NDRC, also made brief remarks respectively.
The MCA economic and trade delegation led by Liow Tiong Lai was on a visit to China from July 13 to 16 and attended the “One Belt and One Road” China - Malaysia business Dialogue. During its stay in Guangdong, the delegation had talks with Hu Chunhua, Member of the Political Bureau of CPC Central Committee and secretary of CPC Guangdong provincial committee, and Xu Shaohua, member of the Provincial Standing Committee and Vice Governor. The MAC also paid a visit to China Southern Airlines in Guangdong. Liow also talked with Chinese Transport Minister Yang Chuantang, and visited the Tsinghua Science Park and China Railway Construction Corporation Limited during his stay in Beijing.
